Abstract:     
In this Final Year Project, we developed a model of Automated Parking System (APS) which is studied on the functional of process storing and retrieving vehicle. The process development was divided into two stage, hardware and software development. The APS interact with user via graphic user interface (GUI) using Visual Basic software environment.APS consists of storage compartment and transfer system as the mechanical structure. Storage compartment was constructed using aluminum profile to build the 2 rows by 3 columns parking storage. However, 1 compartment is reserved for the Entry/Exit area. Vehicle is transfer from the Entry/Exit area to storage compartment by Y-, Z- and X-axis which are driven by stepper and DC motor respectively.   APS is controlled by ATmega128 microcontroller which is integrated with input element, limit switch and IR sensor. Also integrates with output element, DC and stepper motor. The APS utilize gear and conveyor system as a transmission mechanism. The performance of this system can be improved by shorting the retrieving process time. Other than that, an intelligent value can be added where the parking process can be done by implementing vision system. The vision system will capture the car number and user does not waste time to register or key in car number. This model can be implemented at the location which requires parking large number of vehicles at limited parking spaces such as hospital, shopping complex and business area.
